As a follow-up of the Summer school on dielectric properties measurements, held in June 2025, and the first scientific mission in September 2025, FCiências.ID and CIÊNCIAS’ researchers have been doing scientific missions to University of Galway to conduct dielectric measurements on human tissues.
In the second mission, on November 13th-14th, researcher Raquel Conceição (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) and PhD students Henrique Lopes and Rafaella Coelho (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) performed measurements on different human tissues from 5 patients. One week later, on November 20th-21st, Master student Gonçalo Canastra (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) and Rafaella Coelho (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) travelled to Galway to measure tissues from 2 additional patients.
Besides offering specialised training opportunities, these missions have also allowed FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS researchers collect valuable data on the dielectric properties of biological tissues which can advance the state-of-the-art.
