European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2025

Members of 3BAtwin from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa and FCiências.ID (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) and Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) attended the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden, in the week of March 31 to April 4.

The researchers did several presentations related to Medical Microwave Imaging topics, chaired convened sessions and participated in several activities.

  • Raquel Conceição (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) and Francesca Vipiana (POLITO) delivered presentations at the workshopElectromagnetic Technologies for Life Sciences: challenges and opportunities in the EurAAP community“. Raquel presented “The role of COST Actions in International Cooperation” and Francesca presented “An Overview of Recent and Ongoing Projects in the Field“. This workshop was a starting point of the new European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP)’s Working Group “ELSA – Electromagnetic Technologies for Life Science Applications”, chaired by Lorenzo Crocco, Raquel Conceição and Jorge Tobón-Vasquez
  • Daniela Godinho (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) and Raquel Conceição (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) chaired the convened sessionBiomedical Microwave Techniques and Devices: from Diagnosis to Treatment“, organised by Raquel Conceição and Jorge Tobón-Vasquez from POLITO
  • Francesca Vipiana (POLITO) chaired the convened session “Fundamental challenges and novel methodologies in the next generation computational electromagnetics” with Zhen Peng from the University of Illinois, USA
  • Daniela Godinho (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID), together with Iman Farhat from the University of Malta, chaired the convened sessionCharacterisation of biological tissues and tissue mimicking materials for electromagnetic medical applications“, organised by Daniela Godinho and Julian Bonello from the University of Malta
  • Francesca Vipiana (POLITO), together with Davide Comite from the Sapienza University, chaired the WiAP/ECAP Event (Women in Antennas and Propagation and Early Careers in Antennas and Propagation)
  • Ana Catarina Pelicano (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) presented her paper A Preliminary Study on the Impact of Model Complexity in Classification in Breast Microwave Imaging
  • Daniela Godinho (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) presented her paper Evaluation of a Medical Microwave Imaging Device for Breast Diagnosis – First Volunteer Study
  • Maria Gonçalves (CIÊNCIAS/FC.ID) presented her paper Preliminary Study of the Mechanical Properties of Biological Tissue During Microwave Hyperthermia
