European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2026

Members of 3BAtwin from FCiências.ID, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS), University of Galway (GALWAY) and Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) attended the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP) 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, on April 20-24.

The researchers contributed with multiple presentations on Medical Microwave Imaging topics and chaired sessions and workshops:

  • Martina Gugliermino (POLITO) presented her paper On the Decoupling of an on-Body-Matched Microwave Antenna for Head Screening
  • Raquel Conceição (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) co-chaired with Lorenzo Crocco the workshop of European Association on Antennas and Propagation (EurAAP)’s Working Group “ELSA – Electromagnetic Technologies for Life Science Applications”
  • Raquel Conceição (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) chaired the convened session “Biomedical Microwave Techniques and Devices: from Diagnosis to Treatment“, organised by Raquel Conceição and Jorge Tobón-Vasquez from POLITO
  • Daniela Godinho (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) presented her paper Preliminary Analysis of Breast Microwave Images of Cancer Patients“, which awarded her a J. Imaging Travel Award
  • Henrique Lopes (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) presented his paper Repeatability Assessment in Medical Microwave Imaging: A Systematic Review Protocol
  • Amra Mehboob (GALWAY) presented her paper Matching Medium for Microwave Bone Imaging Systems: Evaluating Transmission Line and Quarter-Wavelength Approaches for Broadband Operation
  • Daniela Godinho (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) chaired the convened session “Characterisation of biological tissues and tissue mimicking materials for electromagnetic medical applications” with Julian Bonello from the University of Malta
  • Martina Gugliermino (POLITO) presented her paper Ad-Hoc Double-Extended-Bitten Ridge Waveguide for Broadband Dielectric Characterization of Lossy Dispersive Solid and Semi-Solid Materials
  • Atif Shahzad presented the work developed with Bilal Amin (GALWAY) and Adnan Elahi (GALWAY) “Development and Characterisation of Brain Tissue Mimicking Phantoms for Microwave-Based Medical Applications
  • Henrique Lopes (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) presented the 3BAtwin collaboration paper Standardising Dielectric Property Measurements of Biological Tissues: An Overview on Open Ended Coaxial Probe and Measurement Guidelines
