The 1st Edition of the International Conference on Medical Microwave Imaging Applications (ICMWIA), organised within 3BAtwin, was held between the 3rd and the 5th of February 2026.
Raquel Conceição and Daniela Godinho (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) were the conference chairs, and Adnan Elahi (GALWAY), Brígida Ferreira (FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS) and David Rodriguez-Duarte (POLITO), as well as Emily Porter and Lorenzo Crocco (both IEEE MTT-S members) were Technical Programme Committee chairs.
Twenty-four papers were submitted, 22 were presented, and 58 people attended the conference, from 11 countries and of 16 different nationalities. The conference included 2 keynote presentations, 3 special sessions – which included a discussion session, a round-table session with patient advocate group representatives and an IEEE talk for young professionals –, 2 tutorials and a visit to 2 laboratories in satellite areas. More than 60% of the audience were students and young professionals, including 3BAtwin members.

The 2nd edition of the conference is planned for the 2nd to the 4th of February 2027. Information will be available soon in the conference website.
