From the 19th to the 23rd of January, FCiências.ID/CIÊNCIAS attended the “Workshop on Antenna Systems for Biomedical Applications“, organised by Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) in Turin, Italy, under Work Package 3.
The workshop gathered a total of 19 participants: six participants from FC.ID/CIÊNCIAS (five in-person and one online), nine participants from POLITO (in-person), and three participants from GALWAY (one in-person and two online), and one external speaker from EPFL – Swiss Federal Technology Institute of Lausanne.

The one-week workshop introduced fundamental parameters and figures-of-merit of antennas, and provided theoretical training on antenna design for near field applications, on numerical techniques used to design antennas for both radar and tomography medical microwave imaging, on characterisation techniques for near field antennas, on creation of antenna systems for imaging techniques and how switches and specialised hardware can be combined for antenna measurements. It also included lab training on antenna design and on antenna measurements.
