Good coordination between ambulance teams and hospitals is essential when treating stroke, because every minute matters. Rapid assessment before reaching the hospital helps identify patients sooner, while early and correct recognition of the type of stroke supports the right treatment decisions. Faster diagnosis along the care journey allows treatment to start sooner, improving recovery and reducing long-term effects.
The Wavision Research Group, part of one of the beneficiaries of 3BAtwin (Politecnico di Torino), is developing microwave-based approaches to support stroke diagnosis and monitoring. Microwave imaging is cost-efficient, easy-to-use, and portable nature makes it especially promising for bringing diagnostic capabilities closer to the patient, including in pre-hospital and mobile care settings.
